Loading speed
The loading speed of the website is another important design element. A website and a page should load faster. No body will wait for ages to see your website or page. When it takes more time for loading, then you are sure to lose visitors. Your site or page may me very attractive or very important, but people will shy away from it. Using of too much graphic makes a page loading slow. So, when you are doing any page designing keep in mind this important web design element.
 
Minimal Scrolling
Offer the visitors a very big page with lots of people, and you are sure to strive for visitors. Instead offer them a simple page with no scrolling or minimal scrolling, you will get more visits.
 
High content
The content of your website and web pages should be good enough. Place high quality content on the pages. Quality of the content is very important. Content brings you more and more repeat visits of your audience. Get or write good content using images and diagrams. Keep it relevant, simple and in simple language.
 
Extensive graphic
Extensive graphic may be necessary in some case like a gaming or a camera website. But try to limit it to some extent. As because more graphics will affect another design element “loading speed”, so be careful with it. Use lesser amount of graphics if possible.
 
Extensive color
Use of color, is again depends on the website type. Less color is generally better. If you use more color then be sure to match them well. Do not use contrasting colors unless you yourself want to create contrast to highlight something.

Use frames to separate out different sections of the web page. Frames will make the page look better.
 
Text Labels on icons
Make your website and pages user friendly. Using text labels on the icons will help the visitor navigate easily through the different sections.
 
Accessible pages
Consistent page format - Keep a consistency in page formats. Consistency will not hamper with the attention and concentration of the visitors. Consistency will help your audience to feel better with the web pages.
 
Logos
Use logos if you have one. Logos are very essential to mark your presence and to create a brand. This brand will help them to trust you and you may become an authority in the particular area where you are working. Logos attract people and make them feel as if the company is a professional one.

Provide your audiences interactivity. Help them to tell you about the website and web pages.
 
Balance
Balance is an important design element of your web design. You can create balance in two forms. One is symmetrical and the other is asymmetrical.
 
The audience should feel the page balanced. In general the web pages are heavier on the right side. But you can make it balanced by putting something extra on the left side.
The white color is important and also the size of the text. Create symmetry with the elements. Match your color in the background as well as in the foreground.
 
Do not make something dominant in one place. Balance them well and spread throughout the page.
 
Rhythm
Rhythm means re occurrence of an object after a short period. When a visitor looks at your web pages, he feels a particular rhythm of it. There are three types of rhythm – regular, flowing and progressive.
The font, text, color, structure etc can add rhythm to your web pages.
 
Proportion
Proportion is the relation between the size and the scale of the objects placed in the web page. It is a comparison of the dimensions. You can use proportion to define symmetry. You can add visual weight to your pages by using right proportion. You can create tension by using proportion to catch the attention of the visitors. Get them to different areas of the page where you want to take them.
Create illusion, create a three dimensional look by using proportion.
 
Dominance
Visual weight and importance in a composition is called as Dominance. Dominance is another important web design element. When visitor look at your pages, where their will be taken in, is decided by dominance also. Three stage of dominance are available – dominant, sub-dominant, subordinate.
 
Use color, text, size to create a dominance of an area over others in a web page.
 
Line
Length has length and direction. A line can create form, perspective and can offer density to a page.
Lines separate the different contents, contents from the background. You can use lines to create a similarity and unity in the web pages. This is a design element that can help in creating a uniform website.
 
Form
Shape is a design element that is of three dimensions. There are three different forms that can be used in the design of a web page - circle, square and triangle.
Use them to create a sense of space in your composition of the pages.
 
Color
Colors can be a great design element. Three main components of color hue, value and saturation can make a web page very interesting. Colors will make your design a success. Use colors that combine well with each other. Adjust the hue, the value and the saturation to create some pages that are interesting, impressive and attractive. Right combination of all these three components is very much important in web design.
